About the choir

Who we are

The Nottingham Chamber Singers – NCS for short – is the chamber choir and semi-chorus of the Nottingham based charity Music for Everyone (MfE).

We combine the intimacy of a cappella and accompanied performances in smaller venues with the concert hall thrill of large-scale works, international soloists and a professional orchestra. Most of our concerts take place in or around Nottingham and it is a privilege to perform for such warm and discerning audiences.

The concert in Beeston was full of joy, and impressive energy. It was successfully ambitious, demonstrated the choir’s versatility and celebrated the quality of the instrumentalists – a great partnership.”

We’re friendly, versatile, adventurous and accomplished. To maintain our well-blended sound, we aim for about 40 singers.

Repertoire

Classical and wide-ranging, secular and sacred – Byrd, Bach, Brahms, Pearsall, Parry, Porter, The Beatles, McDowall, MacMillan, Whitacre, Arbo, Quartel etc.

While as a choir we enjoy the traditional canon of choral music, we like to take on modern and challenging styles and test our language skills at times!
