We concluded our season with two wonderful events – a sell-out celebratory concert in Beeston Church and a birthday party! This took the form of a Desert Island Discs where we were joined by our string playing friends – they have performed many concerts with us over our forty years – and of course our wonderful accompanist, Ange Foan.

We thought you might like to see the ‘discs’ we chose, arranged by decade when first performed:

St Nic’s Church, City Centre, Nottingham, NG1 6AE

Conductor: Alex Robinson
Chorus master: Rachel Parkes
Accompanist: Angela Foan

Walk the golden streets of Venice in our first Festival Chorus concert of the year, focusing on the music of two of Venice’s greatest exports – Monteverdi and Vivaldi. The Vivaldi Gloria is one of his most famous works and a real joy to sing. Experience the splendour of the high baroque era from Europe’s cultural jewel with strings and harpsichords ringing out in celebration.

In the concert, the Nottingham Chamber Singers perform a trio of wonderful works by Monteverdi and with the Festival Chorus, Vivaldi’s Gloria!

Friday 26th September, NTU Clifton, 7.00-9.00pm – a rehearsal with Rachel that’s included in the cost of the course. This is a great way to explore the music before the course.
